From a single fault to a full commercial fit-out, one experienced team handles design, installation, testing and certification.

Why First Electrical

High standards aren’t an extra. They’re how we work.

Electrical work hides behind walls and ceilings, so you need to trust the people doing it. These are the commitments we make on every job, large or small.

  • Clear, written quotations

You’ll know exactly what’s included and what it costs before any work begins. No surprises on the invoice.

  • We turn up when we say

Agreed start dates, realistic programmes, and a call if anything changes. Your time matters as much as ours.

  • Safety without shortcuts

Every installation is designed, installed and tested to the current Wiring Regulations, BS 7671.

  • The right paperwork, every time

Installation and Minor Works certificates, EICRs and Part P notification, issued promptly and kept on record.

How it works

A straightforward process from first call to certificate

  1. Get in touch

Call us or send an enquiry. Tell us what you need and we’ll arrange a convenient time to talk it through.

  2. Survey & quotation

We look at the job, answer your questions and send a clear, fixed written quotation.

  3. Installation

Carried out neatly by experienced electricians, with your property protected throughout.

  4. Test & certify

Everything is tested, explained and handed over with the correct certification.

Landlords, businesses & homeowners

Need an EICR, PAT testing or a certificate?

A certificate is only worth something if the testing behind it was done properly. We inspect and test methodically, explain what we find in plain English, and never recommend work that isn’t needed.

Testing & certification
  • Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)
  • Electrical Installation Certificates
  • Minor Works Certificates
  • Emergency lighting certification

FAQs

Common questions

Can’t see your question here? Call us on 01539 564477 and we’ll be happy to help.

How often do I need an EICR?

Private landlords in England must have the electrical installation inspected and tested at least every five years and give a copy of the report to tenants. For owner-occupied homes, every ten years is recommended, or when you buy a property. Commercial premises are usually every five years, and some uses, such as swimming pools or caravan parks, more often.

How do I know if my house needs rewiring?

Warning signs include an old fuse box with rewireable fuses, rubber or fabric-covered cables, scorch marks on sockets, frequent tripping, and no RCD protection. An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) will tell you exactly what condition the wiring is in and whether a rewire is needed.

What is Part P and why does it matter?

Part P of the Building Regulations covers electrical safety in homes in England. Certain work, such as new circuits, consumer unit replacements and work in bathrooms, must be notified to building control. When we carry out notifiable work, we handle the notification and you receive the certificate.

Why does my electricity keep tripping?

A circuit that trips is doing its job: it has detected a fault, an overload or leakage to earth. Common causes are a faulty appliance, water ingress or damaged cabling. Try unplugging appliances on that circuit and resetting it; if it still trips, call us and we’ll trace the cause.
